Prescription Drug Take Back Event This Saturday!!

On Saturday, April 26 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. the UCAPD and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) will give the campus community an opportunity to prevent pill abuse and theft by ridding their homes and residence halls of potentially dangerous expired, unused, and unwanted prescription drugs.

Bring your medications for disposal to the UCAPD at W. J. Sowder and Marion Ross Ave. The service is free and anonymous, no questions asked.


If you cannot make it by on Saturday please know we have a permanent drop box available to the campus community 24-hours-a-day. The permanent drop box is located at the main entrance to UCAPD.

UCA Police Communications Specialist/Dispatcher Recruitment

The University of Central Arkansas Police Department is seeking applications for Police Dispatcher. Responsibilities include receiving incoming calls; dispatching officers to calls and criminal incidents; assessing the scope and extent of response necessary; utilizing a variety of criminal justice computer systems including ACIC/NCIC; processing police reports, takes appropriate action in response to alarms, calls for assistance, and security of buildings and offices, and assists stranded motorists and others in need of assistance. Monitors security and fire panel for security and fire detection, and assists with checking the university alarm systems.  Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

The formal education equivalent of a high school diploma. Additional requirements determined by the agency for recruiting purposes require review and approval by the Office of Personnel Management. OTHER JOB RELATED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE MAY BE SUBSTITUTED FOR ALL OR PART OF THESE BASIC REQUIREMENTS, EXCEPT FOR CERTIFICATION OR LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS, UPON APPROVAL OF THE QUALIFICATIONS REVIEW COMMITTEE. 

Experience as a public safety agency dispatcher is desired.  Must be able to obtain ACIC certification, work assigned shifts that will occasionally rotate to include nights weekends and holidays, work overtime as required, and pass a background investigation.  Proficiency with computers desired.

Students, faculty and staff are encouraged to provide their contact information through the myUCA portal by logging in and following the instructions in the "Update UCAAlert Contact Info" channel.
